Anthropomorphic Hand
An anthropomorphic hand is a robotic end effector that mimics the structure of the human hand, with multiple articulated fingers and often an opposable thumb, ranging from the fully actuated, twenty-plus degree-of-freedom Shadow Hand to underactuated tendon-driven designs. The humanlike form factor targets tool use and environments designed for people, at the cost of mechanical complexity, fragility, and difficult control compared with parallel-jaw grippers.

Humanoid platforms bet that human-shaped hands unlock human tool ecosystems and make human video a directly relevant pretraining source, but their high-dimensional contact dynamics remain a frontier for learned dexterity.
