Fisheye Camera
A fisheye camera is a camera fitted with an ultra-wide-angle lens, typically covering 180 degrees or more, that produces strongly distorted images following non-pinhole projection models such as equidistant or double-sphere. Fisheye optics trade angular resolution for coverage, and their images require dedicated calibration and undistortion models. They are common in robot navigation, visual-inertial odometry rigs, and surround-view systems where field of view matters more than metric detail.
Why it matters for physical AI
Wide field of view reduces blind spots for navigation and whole-scene manipulation context with fewer cameras, but the distortion challenges standard vision models, making fisheye handling a practical concern in camera stack design.
