Foundation Models
GR00T (NVIDIA Isaac GR00T)
GR00T is NVIDIA's project and model family for generalist humanoid robot foundation models, announced in 2024 and realized in open models beginning with GR00T N1 in 2025, a vision-language-action model with a dual-system design pairing a vision-language module with a diffusion-based action head for continuous control. The ecosystem includes GR00T-Dreams and GR00T-Mimic synthetic data generation workflows and tight integration with Isaac Sim and the Jetson Thor compute platform.
Why it matters for physical AI
Openly released VLA weights plus a synthetic-data-and-simulation toolchain lower the entry cost for humanoid learning research, and platform plays like GR00T signal how compute vendors are positioning around physical AI.
Build physical AI
Put these concepts to work on real hardware
Axol is a dual-arm robot built for physical AI — teleoperate it, collect demonstrations, and deploy learned policies out of the box.
