Heat Pipe

A heat pipe is a sealed, passive two-phase heat transfer device in which a working fluid evaporates at the hot end, condenses at the cool end, and returns through a capillary wick, moving heat with effective conductivity far exceeding solid copper. Robots use heat pipes and vapor chambers to cool onboard GPUs and motor drivers inside sealed, fanless enclosures.

Why it matters for physical AI

Onboard inference for large policies pushes embedded GPUs toward their thermal limits inside compact robot bodies, and passive heat-pipe cooling sustains compute performance without dust-prone fans in field environments.
