Home Robot

A home robot is a robot designed to operate autonomously in domestic environments, ranging from single-task appliances such as robotic vacuums to general-purpose mobile manipulators intended for tidying, laundry, and kitchen work. Homes are a canonical unstructured setting, with high scene diversity, deformable objects, pets, and people, and benchmarks such as Meta's HomeRobot open-vocabulary mobile manipulation challenge target this domain.

Why it matters for physical AI

The home is the ultimate generalization test: no two are alike, so household robots are a driving application for foundation-model policies trained on diverse cross-embodiment data.
