Wrist Camera
A wrist camera is a camera mounted on or near a manipulator's wrist, moving with the end effector to provide close-range, occlusion-resistant views of the object being manipulated; the configuration is also called eye-in-hand, in contrast to fixed eye-to-hand cameras. Because the viewpoint is a known function of the kinematics, wrist images simplify visual servoing and provide egocentric observations for learned policies.
Why it matters for physical AI
Egocentric wrist views generalize across scenes better than fixed external views and capture the fine detail needed at contact, which is why nearly all modern manipulation data setups pair wrist and overview cameras.
