Bimanual Teleoperation
Bimanual teleoperation is the simultaneous remote control of two robot arms by a single operator, using paired leader arms as in ALOHA, dual haptic devices, motion-capture suits, or hand tracking from VR headsets. It demands interfaces that preserve inter-arm coordination while managing the operator's cognitive load, and it is currently the dominant method for collecting the two-handed demonstration data on which bimanual and humanoid policies train.
Why it matters for physical AI
The throughput and ergonomics of two-handed teleoperation set the cost of bimanual training data, making rig design a first-order factor in scaling humanoid manipulation datasets.
