Motion Retargeting
Motion retargeting is the transformation of motion from a source embodiment to a target with different kinematics, most prominently mapping human motion onto humanoid robots or animated characters. It must reconcile differing limb proportions, joint limits, and degrees of freedom while preserving the motion's intent, and for physical robots also respect balance and dynamic feasibility. Retargeted human data drives humanoid teleoperation and provides training corpora for whole-body skill learning.
