Isaac ROS
Isaac ROS is NVIDIA's collection of GPU-accelerated ROS 2 packages providing hardware-accelerated perception, including visual SLAM, the nvblox 3D reconstruction library, AprilTag detection, stereo depth, and DNN inference nodes. Its NITROS transport adapts ROS 2 message passing for zero-copy GPU pipelines, targeting Jetson-class onboard computers.
Why it matters for physical AI
Perception at frame rate on embedded power budgets is a chronic deployment constraint, and GPU-accelerated middleware lets full autonomy stacks run onboard instead of offloading to servers.
