Trossen Robotics

Trossen Robotics is a US robotics company known for low-cost research manipulator arms, including the WidowX and ViperX series built on Dynamixel servos with ROS support. Its arms became fixtures of robot learning research: WidowX robots underpin the BridgeData datasets and many Open X-Embodiment contributions, and Trossen commercialized the ALOHA bimanual teleoperation platform as kits used widely for imitation learning data collection.

Why it matters for physical AI

Affordable, standardized research arms lowered the cost of entry for manipulation learning and enabled the multi-lab data collection behind several major open datasets, accelerating the broader robot foundation model effort.
