Warehouse Robot

A warehouse robot is a robot deployed in logistics facilities for tasks such as goods-to-person transport, shelf and tote movement, piece picking, sorting, and palletizing. Amazon's acquisition of Kiva Systems in 2012 catalyzed the category; today fleets of autonomous mobile robots coordinate through centralized traffic control, while vision-guided arms handle picking from bins and conveyors.

Why it matters for physical AI

Warehouses are the largest commercial proving ground for embodied AI, generating enormous volumes of real manipulation and navigation data under hard throughput and reliability constraints that push learned systems beyond lab conditions.
