Remote Presence Robot

A remote presence robot, or telepresence robot, is a mobile platform carrying a screen, camera, microphone, and speakers that lets a remote operator see, hear, converse, and move through a distant environment. Deployed in hospitals for specialist consultations, in offices for remote workers, and in homes for family connection, most are drive-only platforms, distinguishing them from teleoperated manipulators that also act on the world.

Why it matters for physical AI

Telepresence is a commercially proven slice of teleoperation that exposes the latency, situational awareness, and social acceptance challenges any remotely supervised robot fleet must solve.
